Kinds underage? Well, that shouldn’t stop parents from buying booze for them

The parents of a Brooklyn prep school lacrosse player are facing legal action after being caught throwing an alcohol-fueled bash for their son and some 40 underage friends as they celebrated a big win, police said.

More than 40 minors were at the raucous party on Saturday and at least two were taken to a hospital via ambulance, a source said.

Smoking and Drinking While Pregnant

My wife is smoking while pregnant and is a recovering alcoholic—or at least she was. Her doctor told her to quit smoking immediately and forever and she promised she would. But just a few weeks later she started up again. And she’s started drinking again too. She says she’s only having a few glasses of wine but I’m going nuts with worry and I can’t understand why she would do this to our unborn baby. What can I do?

I generally don’t like to scare people but in cases like these it’s necessary. When a mother-to-be inhales cigarette smoke, her womb fills with carbon monoxide, nicotine, tar, and other gunk that keep the baby from getting the oxygen and nutrients he needs. And there’s certainly no need to chug cough syrup. Why bother? If you want to get drunk, all you have to do is pick up a bottle of hand sanitizer, which has alcohol as its active ingredient–and is about the cheapest high available.

Researchers at the University of Chicago just confirmed what a lot of guys have always suspected: having a few beers may actually make us smarter. Or at least it makes us solve more brain teasers more quickly than our less lubricated brothers.

What?! You mean my kids are actually listening to me?

A new study done by The Century Council, a leading non-profit dedicated to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking found that, contrary to what you might think (and to what teens would admit to mom and pop), parents are are the leading influence on their children’s decision not to drink alcohol. Yep, you read that right. In fact, parental influence has increased substantially over the past ten years.

Drink up, guys. Well, only little bit.

If you’ve already had a heart attack, having a drink or two every day may lower your chances of dying within 20 years of the attack. Since this research was published in the European Heart Journal, “a drink or two” means 10-30 grams. For the rest of us, a beer has about 12, a shot of whiskey has 14, a glass of wine about 11.
